Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite

Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite

Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite is a seasonal tournament division reserved for highly skilled and committed boys and girls (5th Grade – High School). Teams are open to players all over the DFW metroplex.

Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite features AAU, Elite and Select level youth basketball teams that compete in local, regional, and national level tournaments.

Program Structure:

Players must tryout for Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite by attending our seasonal tryouts and/or attending a skills/practice session. Players that do not make the Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite team are cut, however, are given the opportunity to play in the Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Recreational program for further development. Players that make the Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite team will be assigned to a team based on his/her skill level.

Team Practices:

Each Team practices twice per week:

·         (1 hour) Team Practice, 2 times a week

Seasons’ Duration (commitment):

Fall/Winter (November – February): 8 local tournaments (5th – High School)

Spring/Summer (March – August): 10 local/regional/national tournaments (5th Grade – High School)

Evaluation/Tryouts:

If you're looking to join a Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite Team, you must attend our tryouts and/or skills/practice sessions. Tryouts run during the off season and consist of extensive player skills training and 5 on 5 competition. The camps are utilized to carefully evaluate each player's competitive level as we construct our teams for the upcoming Season. Players are encouraged, but not required to attend all camp dates during the Tryout period.

Divisions:

We classify Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite into 2 skill division (Upper & Lower)

·         Upper: plays a very competitive schedule that involves 2-3 regional travel tournaments during the spring/summer season

·         Lower: plays a moderately competitive schedule that involves 1-2 regional travel tournaments during the spring/summer season – lower    division teams are differentiated by the tags (Gold, Silver, Bronze etc.)

We expect all of our players in the Fire N Ice PBT Basketball Academy Elite divison to have an unconditional love for the game of basketball and be self-motivated to practice/train 3-7 days per week.

On this level, players understand the systematic concept of constantly earning his/her playing time and roster spot.

Player Evaluations:

Our staff has followed youth competition on all levels for many years, and can spot a player's competitive level rather quickly. Although players are evaluated and placed on a team via the Trial Period Camps, they are constantly under evaluation via practices and games; thus, any player can be moved up or down a division, but generally this happens season to season.

A player's team placement is generally controlled by 5 factors:

Coach's Assessment:

Elite and National players should have an overall high skill set or a special talent. National players tend to have a well-defined skill or special talent in at least one area of the game. The line between Select and Elite/National is often drawn between if or if not a player has the overall mental tools needed to compete at the highest level (IQ, aggression, and toughness).

Attitude:

We take a very hard look at how a player handles instruction, criticism, and adversity. Simply put, we steer clear of negative attitudes, and players that do not align with our core values and principles as an organization, regardless of talent or any other valuable skills.

Parents/Guardians:

We take a very hard look at each player's family situation. Simply put, we steer clear of players with parents or family members with negative attitudes that do not align with our core values and principles as an organization, regardless of talent or any other valuable skills.

General talent & skill level in your grade's player pool:

Some grades are rich with talent and skill, and some aren't. This simple notion is true nationally as well as within our Club. A player's value is partly dependent on how high or low the bar is set in their grade.

Team needs and open roster spots within your grade/class:

Some teams within our Club may target or value a certain type of player that can fill a specific role more than a player that may have an overall higher talent level. Thus, being assigned or not being assigned to a specific team, does not necessarily indicate a player's overall skill or talent level.
